Sandra J Burke, Vice-Chair

Sandra’s career spans both the public and private sectors in Scotland, working in leadership roles with Scottish Enterprise, the Care Inspectorate, Chambers of Commerce and previously as a senior civil servant.
The first woman Chief Executive of the Chamber of Commerce in the city of Dundee in 175 years, where she initiated a programme of challenging change and modernisation, Sandra was awarded an OBE for services to economic development and social care in Scotland in 2015. An award winning campaigner and marketer, she was appointed Fellow of the Royal Society of the Arts in 2018.
Now semi-retired, Sandra has several small business interests, is an active social justice campaigner and also cares for her elderly, disabled mum-in-law who lives with the family. She’s juggles this with being an ambassador, volunteer and trustee for several charities and is passionate about equality, mental health, poverty, loneliness and social care. Sandra's experience also stems from being a loving and supportive child and adult carer for over 40 years to her late mum, who suffered with lifelong Bi Polar Disorder and COPD.
